How to Mend a Broken Heart: Day 8

Be Kind and Gentle to yourself!  What does that look like to you?  A bath?  A walk? A nap?   


Here’s the key, patience and gentleness…you are right where you are supposed to be.  You are doing the work and you have to be kind to yourself.  Really acknowledge your needs and take care of you.  


My grief counselor would ask at the end of every session what I was doing to be kind and gentle with myself. I loved this question because I really had to think about it.  As you can imagine, after the death of my husband, with 2 kids, work, housework and doing it all on my own…this was a toughy.  I was overwhelmed and dealing with so much. It was hard enough putting one foot in front of the other some days!  So, I started waking every morning with the thought of what I was going to do to be kind and gentle with myself.  It changed daily and sometimes it had to change mid-day because of priorities, so I gave myself options.  


What can you do today to be kind and gentle with yourself?  Give yourself options.  Feel free to share what you came up with!  I would love to hear your ideas and how they worked for you.
